“TO THE HUMAN MIND A GRAIN OF DUST IS A UNIVERSE - SO REALITY DOES CLOTHE ITSELF IN COUNTLESS FORMS.”
Bootcamp Royale 17 takes on the texts of a classic Noh Play, The Banana Tree and The Waves by Virginia Woolf in an exploration about our relationship to and responsibility for the natural world.
In a daring juxtaposition, a 15th Century Noh play The Banana Tree is paired with extracts from Virginia Woolf’s 20th Century stream of consciousness novel The Waves. In a moonlit valley, a hermit reciting the Lotus Sutra meets a lonely woman, but she is not all that she seems.
As the sun rises and sets, a sea scape changes hypnotically as the cycle of nature is contrasted with human life.
