BECAUSE A FUTURE WILL COME

Churchill is one of the most celebrated and inventive playwrights of the 20th and 21st centuries, and TAFE Queensland Acting are extremely excited to be staging her most recent plays.

GLASS
A girl made of glass… a boy’s heart is shattered… ‘there’s a splinter in your eye and a splinter in your heart. And they need to sweep the street well.’

IMP
A woman keeps company with a nasty little imp in a bottle. ‘I always think it might make something bad happen.’

KILL
A Greek tale of betrayal, revenge, homicide and incest. The Gods say, ‘we don’t exist, people make us up, they make up the furies and how they bite.’

WHAT IF IF ONLY
A woman grieves for her deceased partner. Confronted by the ghost of multiple futures she is presented with a choice. ‘Equality and cake and no bad bits.’

BLUEBEARD
Two couples muse over the realisation that their friend is a serial killer. ‘He was so charming. He loved lovely things, porcelain. And he played the piano so beautifully.’

These brilliant theatrical miniatures explore with surreal humour and inventiveness the violence and tenderness beneath everyday life.
